Prof. Anup K Kapoor

Currently, Dr. Kapoor is working as an Anthropology Consultant to few of the Organizations in India and USA with regards to Culture and Ethnographic Research. His research interest covers Bio - cultural Anthropology, Neuro-Anthropology, Health Anthropology, Forensic Anthropology, Anthropology of NGO’s, Tribal and Himalayan Studies and Human Rights.
As an anthropologist, Kapoor has carried out extensive and intensive fieldwork among tribes, castes and ethnic groups in the various States and Union Territories. He has served as the Principal Investigator and/or Co-PI for several research projects funded by ICMR, ICSSR, UGC, HSWRC, University of Delhi and Lionex, Germany and PwC, India.
Prof. Kapoor has received several awards like Ruchi Award (1991); UGC Research Award (1999); Life Time Education Achievement Award (2006); Vidya Ratan Award (2008); Man of The Year Award (2009), Dr. Panchanan Mitra Memorial Lectureship Award of the Asiatic Society (2014) and he has also been the President of Section of Anthropological and Behavioural Science, 102nd Indian Science Congress Association.
Prof. Kapoor has also delivered Invited Lectures, Special Lectures and Keynote Addresses in various Conferences, Workshops and Seminars in India and abroad. He has served and has been serving as a member of the Editorial Board of Indian Journals and Reviewer of Different International Journals. Besides his academic achievements, he has held various administrative positions also.
Prof. Kapoor has made scientific and educational visits to USA, UK, Germany, Austria, Canada, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, France, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia.
Dr. Kapoor has held various administrative positions like Provostship, Deputy Proctor of Delhi University, Vice-President of Indian Anthropological Association; Hony. Secretary of Development Initiative through Volunteer Action, New Delhi; and Indian Society of Diet, Health and Culture, Delhi. He was the member of the Governing Body of Colleges and Hostels under University of Delhi, Delhi.
Prof. Kapoor has published more than 280 research papers and articles in National and International Journals and authored/edited 26 books.
He has been the Visiting Fellow to various Universities in India, Europe and North America. He is the Founder and Life Member of Several Prestigious Scientific Bodies and a Member of International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES). At present he is involved in Consulting Assignments for Organizations with regards to Culture and Consumer Theory.
