Professor of Biological Anthropology

Prof. B.T. Langstieh

Professor B.T. Langstieh, a Biological Anthropologist at the Department of Anthropology, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, Meghalaya, did her post-graduation from NEHU (1996) and completed her Ph.D. (Sc) from Calcutta University (2004). She was Junior Research Fellow at the Anthropological Survey of India (NERC, Shillong); Research Fellow (1998-2002) Anthropology and Human Genetics Unit, Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata, worked on molecular anthropology and trained in DNA analysis at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Kolkata and later at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad. In 2002, she joined as Faculty in the Department of Anthropology, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong and is currently serving as Professor of Biological Anthropology. She was a visiting scholar to Semmelweis University and Eötvös Loránd University Budapest, Hungary in 2011 on a research initiative in psycho-genetics and was recipient of the Fulbright-Nehru Senior Research Fellowship (2012-2013) and was affiliated as a Visiting Scholar to the Department of Anthropology, University of Washington, Seattle, USA.
