Prof. Mitashree Mitra

Prof. Mitashree Mitra received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in Anthropology from Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU), Raipur, India. She started her career as a Lecturer in Anthropology in the same university in 1984. She is a Professor and former Chairperson of School of Studies in Anthropology, Coordinator of Centre for Integrated Tribal Studies, Head of School of Regional Studies and Research, Member-Secretary of IEC for Human Research, Chairperson of IPR Cell, Dean of Faculty of Life Science and Member of the Executive Council at PRSU, Raipur. Her research focus is on the Tribes of Chhattisgarh, in particular on PVTGs and areas of interest are tribal health and policy research. She has published more than hundred and twenty research papers and authored five books. She is currently serving as nominated Member of the National subcommittee on ‘Bio-Medical Anthropology’ of Anthropological Survey of India. She is also a member of the Executive Council and Academic Advisor to Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Ministry of Culture, Bhopal, Government of India.
