Professor P. C. Joshi is serving as Pro-Vice Chancellor and Acting Vice Chancellor of University of Delhi. He received his doctorate in anthropology from University of Delhi and later served in H.N.B. Garhwal University and Institute of Human behaviour and Allied Sciences before joining DU as professor in 2003. He has been the President of the Society for Indian Medical Anthropology and is a recipient of the Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra National award as founder member of the Friends of Trees. He was the delegate of European Union in the UNFCCC COP 14 held at Poznan, Poland. He has received appreciation for his work in Disaster Studies from Xavier University, Philippines and University of Indonesia. Prof. Joshi has extensively published in the fields of medical anthropology, environment, shamanism and antibiotic resistance. He has deep interest in visual anthropology and has made films on the village life in Germany, Vietnam and Philippines. Prof Joshi is the Founder-President of Society for Indian Medical Anthropology (SIMA) and continues to hold the position till date.
