Prof. Sarit K. Chaudhuri is currently working as the Professor and founder Head, Department of Anthropology, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Rono Hills, Arunachal Pradesh, India. Earlier he has worked in AITS, RGU and AnSI, Shillong. He was the former Director of IGRMS, Bhopal, under MOC, Government of India. He was also a former member of ‘Think Tank’, MOC, Govt. of India and currently nominated as the member of the EC and Samity of IGRMS. During his more than five years tenure in IGRMS, he has received Raj Bhasa Award from the current and former Presidents of India. Earlier, he has received Young Scientist Award from ISCA at Goa and has 2 years Post-Doc fellowship at SOAS, UK while working for a five years collaborative project with British Museum, SOAS & RGU etc. He has published 20 books and 60 papers in various journals and books. Three of his current books on Cultural Heritage of NEI, edited with eminent anthropologists are jointly published by Manohar & Rutledge. His prime research engagements are with the issues concerning indigenous religion, art, identity, cultural heritage, dynamics of India’s North East borderlands and ethnographic museums.
