Lecture 3: Navigating the Shift: Menopause and the Complexity of Change

The United Indian Anthropology Forum (UIAF) hosted its third distinguished lecture series featuring Dr. Maninder Kaur's presentation on menopause, chaired by Professor Deepak Kumar Behera and with participation from Professors Paparao, Malotra, Subho Roy, and numerous other professors, doctors, and administrative staff, including Saraswathy Kallur Nava, PC Joshi, Raja Chakraborty, and Shalini Mehta.  Dr. Kaur's presentation explored the multifaceted nature of menopause, covering biological, psychological, and sociocultural aspects, and prompting discussion regarding research methodologies, cultural contexts, and the medicalization of menopause.  Next steps include further research addressing the limitations of Dr. Kaur's study, specifically including women who underwent surgical menopause and expanding the scope to incorporate diverse perspectives including bisexual individuals, and the continued advocacy for more holistic and culturally sensitive approaches to managing menopausal symptoms.
